The building was originally an armory for the Ninth Cavalry, but they moved to 14th Street in 1914 . It was then film producer Adolph Zukor who bought the building and used it for his production company to shoot films like An American Citizen and That Man from Mexico . In the 1950s, radio producer Himan Brown bought the studios and built two sound stages.
