Chen Ning-chi

Chen Ning-chi ( chin .: 陳 能 濟, * 1940 ) is a Chinese conductor and composer .

Life

Chen studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Before moving to Hong Kong , he worked with the China National Ethnic Song and Dance Ensemble, the National Ballet of China and Central Philharmonic Orchestra. He was involved in the professionalization of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra .

In recent seasons he has worked as a guest conductor, deputy music director , composer in residence and assistant to the chief conductor. He has also conducted the Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra and the National Chinese Orchestra .

As a composer, he wrote Western and Chinese music , such as orchestral music , choral music , chamber music , musicals and opera . Hui Cheung-wai is one of his disciples .
