Chen Ningbiao

Chen Ningbiao († October 2007 ) was a Chinese civil rights activist who, according to reports by the human rights organization Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD), died after torture in one of the so-called black prisons in the southern Chinese city of Guangdong . Medical care was withheld from him for six months on the instructions of the prison administration. Chen Ningbiao protested an illegal eviction from his village and was abducted.
