Eyota is a city in Olmsted County in Minnesota , United States . In 2000 the place had 1644 inhabitants. Eyota is part of the Dover-Eyota School District.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has an area of 4.0 km² , all of which is land.
The southern branch of the Whitewater River runs on the northern edge of the city.
US Highway 14 and Minnesota State Route 42 are the two main roads in the metropolitan area. Interstate 90 passes immediately south.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Eyota lived in 1644 people. The population density was 409.5 people per km ². There were 614 housing units at an average of 152.9 per km ². The Hoquiam population was 98.36% white , 0.18% black or African American , 0.12% Native American , 0.43% Asian , 0.06% said they were racial and 0.85% said two or more races. 0.43% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Eyota were distributed to 597 households out of which 44.6% had children under 18 years of age. 60.1% of households were married, 10.4% had a female head of household without a husband, and 23.5% were not families. 19.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. Place name
The name "Eyota" is borrowed from the native language and means "superieur". According to one interpretation, this name reflects the view of the first settlers that the land here is of good quality and that it was hoped to attract more settlers. Another theory is that the place is higher than its surroundings.
