Chen Peixun

Chen Peixun ( Chinese  陳培勳  /  陈培勋 , Pinyin Chén Péixūn ; * December 7, 1921 , † February 2007 ) was a Chinese composer . He taught at the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing . His few piano works are very popular with Chinese pianists. Hantian lei (thunder when it is dry) and Mai zahuo (the street vendor) are often played to Cantonese folk melodies.

His 2nd symphony is an important contribution to the Chinese symphonic music of the 20th century, it is entitled Qingming Sacrifice ( Qingming ji ).
