Chen Yueling

Chen Yueling ( Chinese  陳 躍 玲  /  陈 跃 玲 , Pinyin Chén Yuèlíng ; born April 1, 1968 in Tieling , Liaoning Province ) is a former walker who initially started for the People's Republic of China and later for the United States .

After Chen Yueling won the Asian Championships in 1989 and the Asian Games in 10K walking in 1990 , she represented her country when women walked for the first time at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona .

A total of 44 walkers competed over 10 km on the street. The decision was extremely exciting and in the end, Chen Yueling won in 44:32 minutes with a one-second advantage over Russian Jelena Nikolajewa . This made Chen Yueling the first Olympic walking champion.

Chen Yueling later left the People's Republic of China. She competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney for her new home USA and finished 38th.

Chen is 1.59 m tall; their competition weight was 50 kg.
