Chiara Simionato

Chiara Simionato (born July 4, 1974 in Treviso ) is a world-class Italian speed skater both on short distances and in all-around competitions.

Chiara Simionato made her debut in the 1995/96 season in the World Cup . Before she made her final breakthrough in the world elite in the 2004/05 season after ten years in the extended world elite, she was able to achieve several prestigious successes through top placements. To date (November 2006) she has been able to decide six World Cup races. In the overall world cup over 1000 meters she was third in 2004, in 2005 she won the overall world cup over 1000 m, in 2006 she was second, over 500 meters in 2006 third. In 2007 she won the second overall world cup over 1000 m. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she was one of the narrower circle of medal contenders, but could not convince apart from a fifth place over the 1500 meters in front of a home crowd.

Her only medal at an international championship was the bronze medal at the 2006 Sprint World Championships in Heerenveen . Simionato was Italian champion seven times.
