Chiles Valley AVA (recognized since 1999) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California and is part of the national Napa Valley AVA . Chiles Valley is embedded in the Vaca Mountains in the northeast of the Napa Valley. Due to the sheltered location in the east, the area is hardly reached by the cooling winds of the Pacific with the otherwise frequent fog. Therefore the climate of the Chile Valley can already be described as continental and the day and night temperatures are higher there than in all other appellations of the Napa Valley.

Chiles Valley was named after Joseph Ballinger Chiles, who received land rights from the Mexican government in the mid-19th century .

Viticulture

The most common grape varieties in the Chiles Valley are Zinfandel , Cabernet Sauvignon , Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc .
