Chimpharm ( Russian Химфарм ) is a Kazakh pharmaceutical company based in Shymkent . It sells its products under the brand name Santo .

Chimpharm currently has more than 1,000 employees. The turnover in the 2009 financial year was around seven billion tenge , in the 2008 financial year it was only 4.65 billion tenge.

history

The pharmaceutical plant in Schymkent was founded in 1882 by the two traders Nikolaj Iwanowitsch Iwanow and MP Savinkowym. In the Soviet Union , the company grew steadily and became one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the country. However, no medicines were produced, only raw materials for them that were sent to other republics of the Soviet Union.

After Kazakhstan's independence, great importance was attached to the pharmaceutical industry in its own country and the development of Chimpharm was promoted. In 1993 the company was reorganized into a joint stock company with the new name Chimfarm and the manufacture of medicines began .

By working with foreign companies, Chimpharm was able to obtain modern equipment for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. Today Chimpharm's share of the pharmaceutical market in Kazakhstan is 55 percent.
