The China Ordnance Equipment Group Corporation , also known as China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC, Chinese:中国中国南方工业or中国兵器兵器装备) is a Chinese industrial conglomerate. The company is state-owned and managed by the State Assets Control and Management Commission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China . The company was founded in 1999 and is based in Haidian ( Beijing ). The founding of the company was preceded by a restructuring of the obsolete military production facilities into the two twin companies China South Industries Group and China North Industries Group in the mid-1990s .
In 2017 the China South Industries Group had 76 subsidiaries in different industries. The best-known subsidiary is the automobile manufacturer Chongqing Changan Automobile Company . In addition to automobile production, the company is also active in the fields of military technology, machines, robotics, environmental technology and pharmaceuticals.
Fiscal 2017 sales were $ 44.785 billion (USD) and earnings were $ 740 million. China South Industries Group employs over 200,000 people and has assets of $ 56.394 billion. In the ranking of the world's largest companies by turnover, it was ranked 242.
