Chinese game board

The Chinese game is a board game derived from Pachisi , which was known as a children's game in the 19th century in the context of chinoiserie in Germany. It has disappeared again today and game boards can only be found in museums or as replicas.

Game material

game piece

The game board looks like a mixture of Pachisi and Yut and is thus similar to the game Catch the Hat . For each of the four players there is only one single pawn , modeled after a Chinese man wearing a coat. The players are assigned the colors blue, yellow, green or red. The cube used does not show any numbers or eyes, but has four sides in the four basic colors and two white sides.

Game flow

The players position their pieces in the corners that correspond to the color of the pieces. A starting player begins. If he has rolled his own color, he may move his pawn one space forward. If the dice shows a white color, he may not move, but may roll again. If he has rolled the color of an opponent, the die goes to the next player. The pieces are drawn around the field once on the sides and then along their own stairs to the middle of the field. Whoever arrives first at the middle target field wins.
