The embassy complex was built between 1956 and 1959. The project came from a team of architects (Tadeusz Zieliński, Michał Gutt, Michał Glinka, Aleksander Kobzdej , Alina Scholtz and Lin Luo) under the direction of Romuald Gutt (1888–1974) and is in the functionalist style . In 1960 the system was awarded a first prize by the municipal committee for architecture and urban planning ( Komitet Architektury i Urbanistyki ). In addition to the representative main building on the east side facing Bonifraterska , the complex includes various residential and administrative units as well as a large garden, the main stylistic element of which is a shallow pond with decorative stone carvings in the form of dragon figures. The two four-story apartment blocks on Franciszkańska for embassy staff are equipped with spacious loggias and an inner patio each with a glass roof . The complex, surrounded by the streets Franciszkańska , Swiętojerska , Wałowa and Bonifraterska, covers an area of around 40,000 square meters.

Juliusz Chrościcki and Andrzej Rottermund describe the facility in the Warsaw Architecture Atlas as a "complex that is characterized by the successful, interesting combination of architectural and garden design means".
