The Chinese University of Science and Technology (USTC) ( Chinese 中国 科学 技术 大学 , Pinyin Zhōngguó Kēxué Jìshù Dàxué ) is a university in the People's Republic of China .
The university was founded in 1958 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences . It is considered one of the most famous universities in China and is one of the universities of Project 211 . At the university, based in Hefei ( Anhui province ), around 16,000 students study at nine faculties in 23 departments, who are supervised by around 1,100 professors and lecturers.
