Hensel frog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hensel Frosch or Hans Frosch was a 15th century German builder who worked in Untergrombach (Baden).

It is mentioned in the inscription dated 1472 of the old Michaelskapelle on the Michaelsberg in Untergrombach. He then built the late Gothic chapel as a pilgrimage church , possibly on behalf of the Speyer bishop Matthias von Rammung , at a location for which a chapel is first attested in 1346. The Gothic chapel was replaced by a new baroque building from 1742 to 1744.

An inscription dated 1474 attests to his involvement in the construction of the old parish church of Untergrombach, which was rebuilt elsewhere in 1864. The late Gothic stone pulpit built there and the baptismal font could come from the older building.

According to a list of households in Obergrombach from 1495, he was still living in Untergrombach that year.
