The Chinese dormouse ( Chaetocauda sichuanensis ) is a rodent from the Bilche family and the only species in its genus. Initially, the species was classified in the genus tree dormouse ( Dryomys ). So far only five individuals have been found, all in the Chinese province of Sichuan .

The Chinese dormouse reaches a head-trunk length of about 9 cm; there is also a 9 to 10 cm long tail. The weight of the specimens found was between 24.5 and 36 g. The fur is reddish brown to gray on the upper side and the underside is whitish. The eye area is darker.

The nocturnal species can be found in mountain forests up to a height of 2,500 m and builds nests with a diameter of about 12 cm. The nests are placed in the treetops about 3 to 3.5 m above the ground. Green parts of plants are accepted as food.

The IUCN originally listed the species as "endangered" ( endangered ) due to its limited range . In 2008, the status was changed to "insufficient data" ( data deficient ).
