The Chinzilla Films GmbH is a German in Cologne -based film production company with a focus on advertising film, feature film and series productions.
Chinzilla Films was founded in 2009 by the shareholders Jan Zenkner and Maximilian Lais, initially as a GbR and renamed a GmbH in 2016 with the then co-partner Hanno von Contzen. In 2017, Chinzilla Films GmbH received a grant from the Mediengründerzentrum NRW in order to establish the company more strongly in the feature film and series market.

With its claim "Courage to fresh ideas", Chinzilla Films is committed to creative storytelling, both in advertising and in fiction productions. In addition, with in-house post-production, emphasis has been placed on linking visual effects with storytelling in order to generate higher production value.
successes
Chinzilla Films was best known for its own proof-of-concept trailer Alientampon. In order to acquire the financial means for their first own feature film, the founders first decided to create a trailer for the fictional sci-fi fabric Alientampon.
With little production effort, Alientampon became a YouTube hit within a few weeks.
This was followed by co-productions with the radio station 1LIVE , including Ping! The microwave show with Chris Tall or the music video How It Is (Wap Bap ...) , which was conceived and produced by Chinzilla Films.
The Demonic series, developed for Funk by Chinzilla Films in coproduction with WDR, is currently appearing on YouTube. The series is considered the first horror science fiction project of the West German Broadcasting Corporation, which was also produced entirely for the first evaluation on the Internet. The series is characterized by a modern, YouTube-like narrative style and its effect-heavy monster animations.
