Its current area of distribution is the Periyar area . It was used for hunting boars, deer and hares; In addition to his quality as a hunter, he is also valued as a guardian of the house and property.
description
The typical color of the Chippiparai is silver-gray; smaller white spots are tolerated; other colors are variations of gray or brown tones. The typical greyhound coat is short and close-fitting. The elegant appearance has a shoulder height of 67 to 77 cm and resembles its ancestor, the Saluki, but also the Rampu Hound .
Essence and use
Despite his graceful shape, like almost all greyhounds, he is of a robust nature. It is said that he is a "one-man-dog", that is, that he only binds to one person . The Chippiparai is a sight hunter, its run gives the impression of particular lightness.
