Chips und Toffel (originally: Chip and Potato ) is a Canadian - British animated series for children under the age of seven produced by WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) and Darrall Macqueen. It's about the pug girl Chips in the first year of kindergarten.
It premiered on Family Jr. TV on October 15, 2018.

The four-year-old pug girl Chip comes to kindergarten and faces new challenges in this phase of life with the help of her older brother Spud, her classmate Nico and, above all, with the help of Toffel, a real mouse that she disguises as a cuddly toy and keeps secret from the others.

- The Mops family lives in the Welcome Path in Glücksstadt. The parents are called Little Mama and Little Papa; the latter is a policeman in Glücksstadt. Her son Spud (an English word for potato) is in the second grade of the Rainbow Forest School. His little sister Chips is four years old at the beginning and is new to kindergarten. As a baby, she met the real mouse Toffel, who wears a pink wool sweater and can pull on its hood so that it looks like a plush toy. Toffel carries chips with him as a cuddly toy, hidden from the others. At the end of the second season, she has her fifth birthday. Little Mama is pregnant in the first season and gets the baby in the second season, the Totsi (in the original Dead for "Tater Tots", an American Krokettenmarke ) is called. Grandma Pug is also common when the family visits her or her family. Your friend is the pug Gordie.
- Panda family
- In the fourth episode, the Panda family moves next to the pugs on the welcome path. It consists of mother Amanda and their children Nico and Bodi. Nico is four years old and is in the same kindergarten class as Chips. They become best friends and in the second season he even meets the real mouse Toffel. Bodi is a baby that Amanda is carrying around in a sling. Toffel shows himself to him, unnoticed by others, as a real mouse and always makes him laugh, an effect that the others attribute to chips.
- Mr. Diggerty
- Mr. Diggerty is a mole and the teacher of the kindergarten class he calls the Happy Hoppers. He is very friendly, in a good mood and supports his lessons with dancing and singing.

- In the first season the older Zebra couple Schiller (in the original the Dazzles) live next to the pugs. In the second season the Schillers move out and the Zebra family Miller moves into their house (in the original the Razzles). This consists of the same-sex couple Ray and Roy and their baby twins, Ron and Ruby.

Chips and Toffel aired on the Canadian television channel Family Jr. from October 15, 2018. So far 40 episodes of 11 minutes in length have appeared there. The 20 episodes previously released on Netflix were published in a first season on May 17, 2019, the second half was released on November 29, 2019. The seasons each consist of 10 episodes of 22 minutes in length, each with two 11-minute episodes. Episodes were packed together.

Common Sense Media, a children's media rating site, awards 4 out of 5 stars. The series stands out for the strength of the characters, the relationships and the support system for chips from family and friends are praised: "This meaning of community is a focus of the stories that reminds children of the value of trying new things and asking for help when you need it, as well as the increased confidence that comes with succeeding in new endeavors. Joe Keller of Decider says preschoolers will appreciate that Chips faces the same challenges they and parents could watch without screaming want, because the children talk like children and the adults like adults. He praises the story arc about Toffel's secret, which gives the series more story than the challenges in kindergarten.
The series is praised for the diversity shown, for example by Ms. Wooly, who is in a wheelchair, and the same-sex zebra couple Roy and Ray Miller.
