Chirala is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh .
The city is part of the Prakasam district . Chirala has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 26 wards (constituencies).
Demographics
According to the 2011 census, the population of the city is 87,200 and in the agglomeration 162,471. Chirala has a gender ratio of 1030 women per 1000 men and thus a rare surplus of women for India. The literacy rate was 77.0% in 2011. 9.6% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
