Chnumhotep was the mayor and head of the priesthood on Elephantine in the 13th Dynasty . So far he is only known from two steles , on one of which he is referred to as the son of a certain mayor and priest chief Chakau. However, there are no other sources for this person named Chakau, perhaps it is a short form of the name Chakaureseneb , who was mayor of Elephantine at the beginning of the 13th Dynasty. Various people who are named on one of the two steles of Khnumhotep can be dated roughly to the reign of Neferhotep I.
