Jo Deok-je (born October 26, 1965 ) is a former South Korean soccer player who played for Daewoo Royals . He is a coach with Busan IPark FC . He led the club Suwon FC in 2015 for the first time in the club's history in the K League 1 . In South Korea he is known for his loyalty to Suwon FC.

Career as a player

Jo Deok-je was at Ajou University from 1983 to 1986 , where he was trained as a midfielder.

Football career in South Korea

Jo Deok-je was signed by Daewoo Royals in 1988. He stayed there until his retirement in 1995. He completed 191 games and scored nine goals.

Career as a coach

After his career ended, he did not go to a club as a coach as usual. It was only nine years after the end of his career that he was signed to Ajou University, where he looked after the youth team. He stayed there until 2010 when the then Korea National League club Suwon FC signed him as a youth coach. In 2012 he was promoted to coach and looked after the team in their final Korea National League season. When the club joined the newly formed K League Challenge , he remained loyal to the club and did not leave the club. In 2015 he and his team reached the peak of the club's history. He managed to get the club into the K League Classic through the play-off games . The team started the following season well, but dropped many points over the course of the season. Although the club was in acute danger of relegation, the club did not dismiss him. Even after the descent was established, he was not released. At the end of the season, the club announced that Cho Deok-je will continue to look after the team in the 2017 K League Challenge . After a series of defeats and third-last place, Cho Deok-je was released on August 27, 2017. On December 20, 2018, Busan IPark FC announced that they had signed hn as a coach.
