Choe Kwang-ryool (born August 1, 1936 in Seoul ) is a South Korean lawyer . From September 1988 to September 1994, Choe was a judge at the Constitutional Court of South Korea .

Life

Choe Kwang-ryool studied law at Seoul National University until 1958 . Choe began his career in 1962 as a judge at the Daejeon District Court and until 1969 worked as a judge at various courts in the Seoul Judicial District. From 1969 he worked as a lawyer . In 1987 he was appointed a member of the Korean Fair Trade Commission and held that position until he took office as constitutional judge.

On September 12, 1988, President Roh Tae-woo Choe, along with Cho Kyu-kwang and Kim Yang-kyun, nominated Judge for the Constitutional Court. On September 19, Roh Tae-woo appointed him a judge at the Constitutional Court along with the other eight nominees. Until the amendment to the Constitutional Court Act on November 30, 1991, Choe was only active as a non-permanent judge, from then on all judges at the Constitutional Court served full-time. After his tenure ended on September 14, 1994, Choe returned to practice as a lawyer.

In early 2016, Choe donated his 9,000-volume private library to the Constitutional Court library.

Awards

On April 30, 1983, Choe was awarded the Order of Civil Merit of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) ( 국민 훈장 ) 2nd class, Meran Order ( 모란장 ).
