Cholagogue
The term cholagogue (plural: cholagoga ; from the Greek chole "bile" and the word part -agogos " bringing about, stimulating, causing") is the unspecific term for " cholatory agents" that is no longer in use .
Instead, we speak of so-called choleretics or cholekinetics today. The former stimulate the flow of bile from the liver , the latter cause the gallbladder to contract .
