Chorente is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Barcelos . The community had 761 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
In the course of the territorial reform on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Chorente, Gueral , Pedra Furada , Courel and Góios were combined to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Chorente, Góios, Courel, Pedra Furada e Gueral . Chorente is the seat of this newly formed community.
