Christopher Raymond Blackburn (born August 2, 1982 in Chester ) is an English football player . The defensive specialist has been under contract with Aldershot Town since 2008 .

Career

Chris Blackburn made his debut in August 1999 under manager Kevin Ratcliffe for Chester City in the Football League Third Division . After his departure a few weeks later, Blackburn was transferred back to the reserve team and received a professional contract in the summer of 2000, after the team was relegated to the Conference National . There he established himself in midfield over the next three years and left the club after his contract expired in 2003. A short detour to the USL Premier Development League at Nevada Wonders was followed by a month-long interlude at Northwich Victoria after his return to the Football Conference before signing a short-term contract with Morecambe FC in February 2004 . At the end of the season he received a new two-year contract from Morecambe, the season break he spent again with Nevada in the USA.

At Morecambe he played mainly in the defense after a bad injury in 2004/05, and was able to convince there as a center and right-back. In 2007 he managed with Morecambe by a 2-1 win over Exeter City in the play-off final promotion to Football League Two . Blackburn decided after the rise to leave the club and moved as a nominal central defender to third division Swindon Town . There he could not prevail against the competition and was awarded in March 2008 after only seven league appearances to FC Weymouth , which he helped to keep relegation in the Conference National. In the summer of 2008 he agreed with Swindon to terminate his contract and moved to League Two for promoted Aldershot Town on a free transfer .

Between 2002 and 2006 Blackburn came to a total of four appearances for "England C", a national selection of players from non-league football .
