Christopher "Chris" Herd (born April 4, 1989 in Perth , Australia) is an Australian football player . The midfielder played at Aston Villa until 2015 .

Club career

Herd played in Australia at youth level for ECU Joondalup and Bayswater City SC before joining the youth academy of the English club Aston Villa with fellow countryman Shane Lowry in February 2005 .

Herd was awarded for the first time at the beginning of 2008 to collect match practice and made his professional debut at third division Port Vale . After eleven missions in two months, his loan contract at Port Vale ended in March 2008 and another one-month loan deal with fourth division club Wycombe Wanderers followed directly . He spent the 2009/10 season on loan from fourth division Lincoln City FC . During the 2014/15 season, two more month-long loans to Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic followed . After the end of the season, his contract with Aston Villa was not extended, so that he is currently without a club.
