Christ Uhren und Schmuck is a Swiss jewelry chain based in Winterthur . It has belonged 100% to the Coop cooperative since 2006 .

history

Christ Uhren und Schmuck was founded in 1975 as an independent stock corporation in Switzerland. At that time, the company was still a foreign department of the German jewelry chain Christ Juweliere und Uhrmacher since 1863 GmbH . In 2006, Christ Uhren und Schmuck was taken over by the Swiss retail group Coop. Today Christ Uhren und Schmuck operates a branch network of 77 branches in Switzerland (as of 2013) and employs over 450 people. This makes Christ Uhren und Schmuck the largest jewelry chain in Switzerland. The Christ Jewelers and Watchmaker since 1863 GmbH, descended from the Frankfurt founder Wilhelm Alexander Christ, belonged to the German Douglas Holding AG based in Hagen, Germany, which Christ Switzerland had sold to the investor group AX4 Holding in 2004.
