Thuringian Castle Festival Sondershausen
The Thuringian Castle Festival is a music theater festival that has been taking place in Sondershausen every year since 2006 between June and July from 2012 for four weeks in the courtyard of Sondershausen Castle .
The organizer on behalf of the city is Theater Nordhausen / Loh-Orchester Sondershausen GmbH .
history
The Schlossfestspiele were founded in 2006 to maintain Sondershausen's musical tradition . Young singers who are at the end of their vocal studies or at the beginning of their artistic careers work at the Thuringian Castle Festival. Together with the Loh Orchestra in Sondershausen , the young artists have been working on a well-known piece of music theater every summer since 2006 . They should thus have the opportunity to participate in a large professional music theater production and to gain experience with this festival atmosphere.
In addition to operas , operettas and musicals , plays for children, as well as ballet and concerts have been offered for several years .
In 2018, more than 12,800 visitors were counted.
Venue
The inner courtyard of the Sondershäuser Palace was chosen as the location for the performances . During the Thuringian Festival, a grandstand for more than 700 spectators will be built here. The irregularly arranged four-wing system of the castle offers good acoustics . As part of the opening event, there was a nightly fireworks display.
During the breaks, guided tours give you the opportunity to look behind the scenes and learn something about the production, the work behind and on the stage. The Castle Museum opens at this time the music collection, consisting primarily of instruments from the 16th to the 20th century, which houses the former special court orchestra and the local conservatory were showing the " Golden Carriage ".
Since the 2018 season, the performances have been taking place in the pleasure garden of Sondershausen Castle.
