Christa von Seckendorff (* 1970 in Düsseldorf ) is a German artist.

Life

After a stage design internship at the Volkstheater in Munich, Christa von Seckendorff studied art history and theater studies at the University of Erlangen in 1991/92 . 1992 to 1998 studies of free graphics and free photography with Sabine Tschierschky and Erich vom Endt at the University of Essen . Christa von Seckendorff is a member of the producer gallery plan.d.

The artist lives with her partner, the music producer and DJ Michael Scheibenreiter (phoneheads / swimmingpool) in Düsseldorf.

In recent years, Christa von Seckendorff has shifted the focus of her artistic work to photography . Her auratic black-and-white photos are mostly based on small figures she has modeled from clay or material waste, onto which she projects chiaroscuro structures. The resulting surreal picture situations are photographed by her and partially processed on the computer.

Thematically, Christa von Seckendorff's works circulate around dream and inner worlds. Her subject is the magical - grotesque , the depth behind reality. In her montages of images, individual affects with culturally handed down memory fragments condense into a diffuse mixture of things. This is precisely where the fascinating, at times disturbing presence of her work lies.
