Christel Opitz

Christel Opitz is a former German rowing athlete.

life and career

Originally from Hamburg, she became a member of the Hamburg Rowing Club from 1925 and specialized in rowing disciplines in single and quadruple sculls with a helmsman . She successfully participated in national competitions and won a bronze medal in the Fraueneiner at the German Championships in Bad Ems in 1952 behind Ingrid Scholz and Ursula Czech . 1953 followed the silver medal behind Ingrid Scholz at the championships in Mannheim. In 1951 and 1952 the quadruple with Ingeborg Weber , Susi Rausche , Christel Opitz, Gerda Dyck -Mallaun and taxwoman Jutta Wilcke won the German championship title, in 1953 the Hamburg women won with Liesel Kroymann for Susi Rausche.

Christel Opitz and her team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on December 17, 1953 .
