The Christensen Glacier ( Norwegian Christensenbreen ) is a glacier on the Vogt coast of the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island . It flows into the South Atlantic 1.5 km east of the Catoodden headland .
It was first mapped during the Valdivia expedition (1898–1899) under the direction of the German zoologist Carl Chun . A new mapping took place in December 1927 during the Norvegia research voyage under Captain Harald Horntvedt (1879-1946). He named the glacier after the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen (1884-1965), the sponsor of this expedition.
