Western, mostly evangelical groups, which are prohibited from missionary activities, offer humanitarian aid. You will not receive any state registration as a religious community. Christian mission is forbidden by law on pain of imprisonment and a fine. In 2006, four people were sentenced to three months in prison for proselytizing .

On the island of Nyazidja the freedom of Christians is greater than in the other parts of the Comoros. There are Roman Catholic churches in Moroni and Mutsamudu . There is a Protestant church in Moroni.
