Christian Bieniek

Christian Bieniek (born December 26, 1956 in Dieburg ; † January 26, 2005 in Düsseldorf ) was a German writer and children's book author.

Life

Bieniek grew up in Leverkusen. At the age of 15 he was expelled from school, but was still allowed to study music because he was a good pianist. Besides and after his music studies he was a guitarist in a punk band. After completing his studies, Bieniek worked as a piano teacher.

Christian Bieniek never completed a writer's training, he came to writing through reading. At the age of twelve he read so much and with great pleasure that he made a few attempts at writing himself. The little stories got longer and longer and later found their way into several volumes by Karo Karotte and Oberschnüffler Oswald .

In 1993 his first book for young people was published, Always stay cool . He has published more than 90 books that have been translated into twelve different languages, making him one of the most popular and successful authors of books for children and young people in Germany. He wrote radio plays , TV skits and radio series. He liked and often went on reading trips and in 2003 he gave over 300 readings.

Christian Bieniek was known for his light and witty dialog-oriented writing style. The characterization of his literary characters he mainly carried out with the help of conversations between the characters and with short internal monologues of the protagonists in response.

He died of stomach cancer in 2005 at the age of 48, leaving behind his wife and daughter.
