Vanessa Walder (* 1978 in Heidelberg ) is a Austrian book - and script - writer .

Live and act

Walder grew up in Vienna, passed the Matura and initially studied law. Her first short stories were published at the age of 19. During her studies she worked as a freelance journalist for various magazines, later as head of the service of the Austrian youth magazine Topic . In 2001, Walder's first novel, the first volume of the youth series sisters, was published by Loewe-Verlag . Walder has lived in Berlin as a freelance writer and screenwriter since 2009. She has now written over 90 books for children and young people that have been translated into more than 25 languages. Including Greek, Russian, French, Italian, Korean and Japanese. Most recently she was successful with the fantasy books about the Elf King and the trilogy “Das wilde Määäh” at Loewe-Verlag . Some series were also created in collaboration with Christian Bieniek and Marlene Jablonski .

Vanessa Walder also translates books from American and English into German, for example “Die Brücke nach Terabithia” (original title: Bridge to Terabithia ) by the author Katherine Paterson .

In 2010 the children's film “ Here comes Lola! Based on a literary model by Isabel Abedi , for which Vanessa Walder wrote the screenplay in collaboration with producer Uschi Reich . Kino.de wrote about the film: A successful film adaptation of the first book in the bestseller series by Isabel Abedi about a young girl who dreams of becoming a pop star, but who finds her true friend in the real world. In August 2016, Warner Bros. Germany will bring the movie Conni & Co. to German cinemas based on the book series from Carlsen Verlag with Emma Schweiger , for which Vanessa Walder wrote the script and Franziska Buch directs. In 2015, the Hamburg- based film production company Ulysses announced that it would be producing an animated film based on the Bayala characters by the German toy manufacturer Schleich . The film is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide in 2018. Vanessa Walder wrote the script. At the beginning of July 2016, the shooting of the sequel Conni & Co 2 - Save the Rabbit Island started in Berlin , in which Emma Schweiger slips into the role of Conni again. In other leading roles: Iris Berben , Heino Ferch , Ken Duken , Matthias Habich , Oskar Keymer and Tim Wilde . This time the director is Til Schweiger . Warner Bros Germany is bringing the film to German cinemas in 2017.
