Christian Ermeler

Christian Ermeler (born May 17, 1735 in Berlin ; † October 14, 1793 there ) was a German textile entrepreneur and merchant in Berlin.

Life

The father Christian Ermeler (1685–1759) was a manufacturer in Berlin, the mother Anna Barbara, nee Wirth, was the daughter of a weaving entrepreneur. In 1763 Christian Ermeler received a concession for a calico factory in Neu Kölln am Wasser . In 1777 he had 34 looms with 43 employees, in 1785 he had 80 employees. This made him one of the most important textile manufacturers in Berlin. Workers protested several times over poor working conditions.

Christian Ermeler was married four times. Children included the tobacco manufacturer Wilhelm Ferdinand Ermeler and the painter Caroline Lauska .
