Christian Ernst (legal scholar)

Christian Ernst (* 1978 ) is a German legal scholar and has held a professorship for public law and commercial law (including public procurement law ) at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg since 2019 .

Life

Ernst studied law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel from 1999 and passed the first state examination in December 2003. From 2004 to 2007 he was a research assistant at Edzard Schmidt-Jortzig's chair for public law in Kiel, and from 2004 to 2006 he was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Services in Schleswig-Holstein. From 2006 to 2008 he completed the legal preparatory service of the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

In 2008, Christian-Albrechts-University received Ernst with a thesis on the subject of “The administrative declaration. The simple declaration of intent under administrative law as a form of action of the administration ”doctorates. From 2008 he was a research assistant at the Bucerius Law School at the chair for public, international and European law of Jörn Axel Kämmerer . From 2015 to 2016 he was a visiting researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society . In June 2017 he completed his habilitation and was granted the license to teach in the subjects of constitutional law, administrative law with administrative sciences and European law.

In 2017 and 2018 he took over professorships at the Universities of Cologne and Konstanz. In 2019 he was appointed to the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. In 2019, he turned down a call to the University of Konstanz.

His research focuses on administrative law , in particular local law and the digitization of administration.
