Christian Gottlieb Friese

Christian Gottlieb Friese (* 1717 ; † 1795 in Warsaw ) was a German councilor to King Stanisław August of Poland and president of the Evangelical-Augsburg consistory in Warsaw.

Life

Friese probably came to Poland from the Duchy of Prussia . He was a member of the Protestant Confederation of Thorn in 1767. Friese became the Privy Councilor of the Polish King Stanisław II. August and in this function stood up for the rights of Lutheran Germans in Poland.

In 1782 he was a member of the newly formed Lutheran Consistory Unchanged Augsburg Confession , which distinguished itself from the Consistory of the United Reformed and Lutherans (Union of Sielce 1777). In 1784 he became its president.
