Christian Iseli

Christian Iseli (* 1957 in Uetendorf ) is a Swiss filmmaker. Since 1995 he has been teaching and researching at the Zurich University of the Arts .

biography

Christian Iseli studied history, German and English at the University of Bern . Since completing his studies, he has been making documentaries and working in the areas of editing and camera work for feature and documentary films.

As a professor of film design, Christian Iseli heads the documentary film profile in the Master of Arts in Film course at the Zurich University of the Arts and is responsible for the film research focus at the Institute for the Performing Arts and Film. He is a member of the Swiss Film Academy.

Other activities

Since 1988 member of the Swiss directors' association FDS (1996–1998 board member). From 1996 to 1998 he was editor-in-chief of DOX Documentary Film Magazine. In addition, from 1998 to 2004 he was a member of the Film Commission of the City of Bern. He received a New York scholarship from the city of Bern. From 1998 to 1999, Iseli was co-director of the international “Independent Video Workshop” of Pro Helvetia in Cairo, Gaza and Ramallah (together with Gitta Gsell ). In 1999 he presented a thematic group exhibition of the Kunstmuseum Bern and the Museum für Kommunikation, Bern, the topics were pixels, prints and prigments. From 2001 to 2008 he was a seminar leader and lecturer for the Focal Foundation (further training institution for the Swiss film industry)
