The Christian Motorcyclists Association ( CMA ) is an association of Christian motorcyclists within the rocker scene . There are several motorcycle clubs or chapters spread all over the world. The organization currently has more than 150,000 members in 1,140 chapters in 31 countries around the world.

history

The CMA was founded in 1975 by Herb Shreve and his son Herbie in Arkansas , United States . Shreve was a former Baptist pastor whose aim was to spread the gospel in the biker scene. The association has been a volunteer from the start and organized joint trips and charitable fundraising. The organization expanded quickly. Larger meetings in the United States drew up to 1,200 members. In 2007 the CMA had 335 chapters in North America alone. Herb Shreve passed away on October 22, 2011.

organization

In principle, the club works like a motorcycle club and has a cowl with a one-piece color . This consists of a triangle (for the Trinity ) on which the club name is written. In this a Bible is shown on which a hand is placed to take an oath. Above and below the triangle is the slogan "Riding for the Son" (freely translated: "Motorcycling for God's Son"). The club anthem of the same name was written by Jerry Williams. As with other MCs, applicants are expected to have a "getting to know each other". The most important condition for acceptance is the confession of Jesus Christ .

The activities include stands at events of the rocker scene, our own motorcycle services , joint trips and prayers. The organization is also involved in pastoral care and visits friendly MCs. The largest rally in the United States takes place once a year on the first Saturday in May. The driving distance is 60 to 100 miles. In 2012, the rally raised $ 3.2 million that was donated to charity.
