Läskelä paper mill

The Jänisjoki ( Russian Янисйоки ) is a river in Finland and Russia .

The river has its origin in Lake Aittojärvi in the Finnish landscape of North Karelia . It flows mainly in a southerly direction. At Värtsilä it crosses the Russian border and then flows through Lake Jänisjärvi . After 95 km the Jänisjoki flows into Lake Ladoga .

On the river, on the lower reaches between Jänisjärvi and Lake Ladoga, there are three rapids, Hämekoski , Leppäkoski and Läskelänkoski , on which there are now hydropower plants:
