Christian Mumenthaler

Christian Stéphane Mumenthaler (born June 21, 1969 ) is a Swiss insurance manager. Since 2016 he has been Chief Executive Officer ( Group CEO ) of Swiss Re .

Career

Christian Mumenthaler began his career in 1997 as an associate with the Boston Consulting Group . He joined Swiss Re in 1999 and was initially responsible for strategic projects. In 2002 he built up the Group Retro and Syndication unit, which he headed until 2005. From 2005 to 2007 he was Group Chief Risk Officer and from 2007 to 2010 he headed the Life & Health business unit. In January 2011 he was appointed Chief Marketing Officer Reinsurance and served on the Group Executive Committee. In October 2011 he was appointed CEO Reinsurance. The World Economic Forum selected him as Young Global Leader 2005–2010. He received his doctorate from the Institute for Molecular Biology and Biophysics at theETH Zurich .
