Christian Sauer

Christian Sauer (* 1963 in Iserlohn ) is a German journalist, coach and author. He lives in Hamburg.

Life

After studying history and then doing an internship at Tagesspiegel and Inforadio 101 in Berlin, Sauer worked from 1992 to 2005 as a reporter, editor and editor-in-chief. From 1999 to 2000 he was deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Deutsches Allgemeine Sonntagsblatt and coordinated the development of the monthly magazine chrismon , for which he then worked as deputy editor-in-chief until May 2006. When the editorial team moved from Hamburg to Frankfurt am Main, he became self-employed as a coach and trainer.

Sauer has been working as a lecturer in training and further education since 1999, mainly in the media industry, so u. a. at the Academy for Journalism in Hamburg , the Hamburg Media School , the Forum Journalism and Media Vienna as well as in the leadership program of the media training center in Lucerne .

As an author, Sauer has published specialist articles and guides on topics such as leadership (with a focus on lateral leadership ), quality management and self-organization when writing; Recently, especially on the subjects of substitution and "constructive journalism".

In 2011, Sauer received his doctorate with Anton Austermann with a thesis on the roots of the history of ideas in advice literature at the Central Institute for Continuing Education at the Berlin University of the Arts .

Sauer is co-founder of the conference series “MedienTreffenMönche” in the Benedictine monastery Königsmünster in Meschede and co-founder of the newspaper criticism salon Hamburg. He was a member of the now closed ethics council of the Academy for Journalism.

With his non-fiction book "Going outside. Inspiration and serenity in dialogue with nature" (Mainz: Verlag Hermann Schmidt 2019), Sauer is for the first time addressing a broader public beyond his previous specialist publications. Stylistically, the book ties in with the Nature Writing movement and tries to give its readers the impetus for a successful lifestyle through traveling reports (in the form of literary reports).
