Christian Sittler

Christian Sittler (born February 26, 1954 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian boxer and Olympian from 1976.

Sittler was around 1.78 m tall during his competitive career and was Austrian light welterweight champion four times in a row from 1973 to 1976. He took part in the European Junior Championships in 1972 in Bucharest and 1974 in Kiev , but was eliminated in both tournaments in the round of 16 against Siegfried Vogelreuter from Germany and Kazimierz Szczerba from Poland.

At the European Championships in Katowice in 1975 he came after a bye and a points win against the Scots James Douglas in the quarter-finals, where he was defeated by József Nagy from Hungary with 2: 3 judges' votes. In 1976 he started at the 21st Olympic Games in Montreal , where he defeated Luis Godoy from Colombia on points (4: 1) and Narong Boonfuang from Thailand prematurely (knockout) and only in the round of 16 against Luis Portillo from Argentina (K. . o.) lost.

In 1977 he played seven professional fights in Austria, including six wins (5 by knockout); against the Yugoslav champions Branko Baraković he scored a draw.
