Christian Vogt (politician)

Christian Vogt (born July 8, 1979 in Wiesbaden ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and mayor of Hofheim am Taunus .

Career

He grew up in the Hofheim district of Wallau and in 1999 he graduated from the Elly-Heuss-Schule in Wiesbaden. After community service, he trained as a banker and studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He did his legal clerkship at the State of Hesse, a. a. at the regional court of Limburg ad Lahn, the Wiesbaden public prosecutor's office and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Chennai, India. After his legal clerkship, he worked for a major bank in the securities compliance department, for the district administration of the Main-Taunus district, the city of Rüsselsheim am Main and at the Ministry of Science and Art (HMWK). Most recently, he was head of department in the minister for digital strategy and development in the Hessian State Chancellery. Christian Vogt was a civil servant (government director) for life until he took office.

Since 2016, Vogt has been a part-time lecturer at the University of Police and Administration (HfPV) in Mühlheim for the subjects of constitutional and administrative law.

Vogt has been active in local politics since 2001. First in the Wallau local council and from 2006 to 2019 in the Hofheim city council, most recently as chairman of the main, finance and stakeholders committee (HFBA) and as deputy head of the city council. From 2014 to 2016 and again from October 2019, Vogt is a member of the district council of the Main-Taunus-Kreis. From 2003 to 2011 he was chairman of the CDU local association in Wallau. From 2011 he is chairman of the CDU Hofheim, the largest city association of the CDU district association Main-Taunus. In his last three re-elections, 100% was elected. In the mayoral election on March 24, 2019, in which the incumbent Gisela Stang (SPD) no longer ran, a total of seven candidates ran. Vogt was able to stand out clearly in the first ballot and achieved 39.8 percent, 6191 votes. In the runoff election on April 7, 2019, he won a clear victory with 58.3 percent. Christian Vogt began his term of office on September 13, 2019.

He is married, of Protestant faith and lives in the Hofheim district of Diedenbergen .
