Christian von Lilienfeld and Latinized Christianus Campililiensis or Campoliliensis (* in the 13th century; † March 4 , around 1330 in Lilienfeld ) was an Austrian Cistercian , prior of Stift Lilienfeld and a late medieval writer in the Middle Latin language .

Life

According to Guido Maria Dreves, Christian appears in the Lilienfeld monastery "under Abbot Paul (1302-1316) as subprior and under Abbot Ottokar (1316-1336) as prior" and died "on March 4th, uncertain in which year, at least before 1332" . He must not be confused with the abbot of the same name, Christian von Lilienfeld (1558–1560), about whom little is known. "Among the liturgical poets of the Middle Ages (...) Christianus claims, if not an outstanding, at least a highly honorable place." (Dreves). Ulrich von Lilienfeld was inspired by his work, as was Konrad von Hainburg .
