Christiane Blatt (born January 22, 1966 ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Saarland state parliament from 2012 to 2018  . She has been Lord Mayor of Völklingen since June 1, 2018 .

education and profession

Christiane Blatt attended elementary and secondary school in Ludweiler and then until 1986 the Völklingen commercial college. She then completed a commercial apprenticeship at ARBED Saarstahl Völklingen and worked in the commercial and secretarial area, most recently as an assistant to the management. She completed two further training courses as a certified secretary and a foreign language correspondent.

Blatt joined the SPD in 2002. From 2004 to 2007 she was a member of the local council of the Ludweiler district and from 2007 to 2009 of the city council of Völklingen . She has been the mayor of Ludweiler since 2009 and has been on the city council of Völklingen since 2015. In the state elections in Saarland in 2012 , she received a mandate in the state parliament. In the 15th legislative period (2012–2017) she was the auditor of the SPD parliamentary group as well as chairwoman of the committee for justice, constitutional and legal questions, electoral examination. Most recently, Blatt was deputy leader of the SPD parliamentary group. On October 8, 2017, she was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Völklingen in a runoff election.

Christiane Blatt is married and has one son.
