Christie was a British pop band from the 1970s.

Band history

Jeff Christie had started his career with various bands, including the "Outer Limits". In 1968 he wrote the title Yellow River and offered it to the Tremeloes . They also recorded the song, but decided not to publish it. Instead, Jeff Christie quickly founded his own band, which included guitarist Vic Elmes and Mike Blakey, brother of Tremeloes member Alan Blakey. The producer Mike Smith removed the vocal tracks of the tremeloes at Yellow River and had Jeff Christie re-record the vocals. In this version the song became a worldwide hit. With San Bernadino the band was able to build on their success. But before the second album, Blakey left the band. Despite several line-up changes, the success never returned and so Christie ended his band project in 1976.

He then tried solo with a band called "China" and toured with the Tremeloes. Meanwhile there is also a band "Christie Again", with which the former guitarist of the band Vic Elmes plays the old hits at oldie festivals.
