Christina Christowa

Christina Christowa ( Bulgarian Христина Христова ; born January 21, 1954 in Popitza , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian politician and was a member of the European Parliament for the national movement Simeon the Second .

Christova studied at the St. Kliment Ochridski University in Sofia , where she graduated from the Philosophical Faculty in 1981. From 1982 to 1992 she worked as a researcher at the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research, was then head of the National Center for Social Rehabilitation between 1993 and 2001 and has been a lecturer in theory of social work at the University of St. Kliment Ochridski Sofia and at the Free University since 1996 Burgas. In 2003, Christowa received her doctorate in sociology.

Christowa belongs to the "National Movement Simeon II". From 2001 to 2003 she was Deputy Minister for Labor and Social Policy, and from 2003 until 2005 she held the office of Minister for Labor and Social Policy. Since 2005, Christova has been a member of the Political Council of the Simeon II National Movement and a member of the National Assembly. From 2005 to 2006 she was a member of the Bulgarian EU Parliament observer delegation .

In the course of Bulgaria's accession to the European Union they belonged since 1 January 2007, the European Parliament and was a member of the there Group Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe . After the Bulgarian European Parliament elections in May 2007, Christova resigned from the European Parliament on June 5, 2007.

Christowa is the holder of the Order of the Crown of the Kingdom of Belgium.
