Christine Hünefeldt

Christine Hünefeldt (* 1950 ) is a German historian . Her research focus is Latin American history, with an emphasis on Andean history, the lives of women, indigenous peoples and slaves. Currently, her research is focused on the Amazon basin and the virtual reconstruction of its history.

With the work Lucha por la tierra y protesta indígena: las comunidades indígenas del Perú entre colonia y república, 1800 - 1830 in ethnology, American studies and history, she received her doctorate in 1982 at the University of Bonn . Since 1990 she has been a professor in the Department of History at UC San Diego .
