August Trümpelmann

August Christian Friedrich Ernst Heinrich Trümpelmann (born September 9, 1837 in Ilsenburg , † March 28, 1915 in Magdeburg ) was a German theologian and writer.

Life

He was the son of the modeller / foreman of an iron foundry and later a musician . After attending the local elementary school from 1843 to 1848, Trümpelmann went to the Lyceum in Wernigerode . In 1851 he transferred to the Pforta State School , where he remained until 1857. Then Trümpelmann began studying theology and philosophy in Halle , which he finished in 1860.

The following year he worked as a city missionary in Lyon . From 1862 to 1864 Trümpelmann held a position as private tutor in Hamburg and then until 1865 that of an assistant teacher in Wernigerode. In 1865 he was ordained , after which he took over the pastor's position in Friedrichswerth . Politically active here, he became a member of the state parliament in the Duchy of Gotha in 1872 . In 1875 Trümpelmann was appointed pastor and superintendent in Uelleben . From there he moved to Torgau in 1881 as pastor , superintendent and district school inspector . In 1891 Trümpelamm finally accepted the position of superintendent of the city ​​ephoria St. Johannis in Magdeburg, which he held until his retirement in 1912. For his achievements he was awarded the " Rothen-Adler-Orden " (4th grade).

August Trümpelmann wrote various religious and socio-political writings, but especially dramatic poems and sacred plays with a historical background.

His son was Max T. (1870–1926) who made a name for himself as a theologian, but even more as a composer and poet.
